When it comes to any tiling project you’ll come to a point whereby you’ll need to start considering the types of tiles you want to use. If you enjoy gathering inspiration from interior decor magazines and the internet, you’ll likely find hundreds of articles offering you advice on how to choose your tiles in the first place. Winges Carpentry has many available resources to help you pick out that perfect tile or tile combination for your project and we will be pleased to install your new tiles, professionally and at reasonable rates.
Winges Carpentry carries a wide-range of samples tiling to choose from, or you can pick up samples, for a small fee, at local renovation stores. Taking some samples with you is well worth the small cost so you can clearly have a better idea of how it look for the intended environment. I highly suggest taking a range of tiles which you might otherwise have chosen, as you may be very surprised at the outcome. Don’t rush through this process and take your time to seek out a variety of styles.
Keeping a simple rule in mind when choosing the right tile and that is light colors will open up a space, whereas dark colors have the potential to make a space warmer and cosier. Think about the natural light in the room and how your chosen tile colors will affect this. Grout is also an important item to take into consideration. Using a complementing or contrasting grout is the perfect way to bring your tiles to life. Winges carpentry is here to help you every step of the way so don’t hesitate to contact us.

Proper planning is always an important factor before and during the installation of tile. There are a couple of ways of doing this. For patterned tiles, use the fold method, which involves imagining the tile is made of paper and it folds around a corner to create continuity. This is a great method when using patterned tiles. For non-patterned tiles, use of the “short title” method is optimal. This methods entails an abrupt cut and finish which can be used difficult spaces within the room.
Always check for suitability of your tiles, if you’re picking up floor tiles, make sure you check that the floor tile wear rating is appropriate for your intended area.
Now the fun part! Once you’ve picked your ceramic tile, why not add a complementing or contrasting border or inlay? Don’t hesitate to contact Winges Carpentry and we will be pleased to assist with each step of the process and ensure you have a long lasting, durable tiling job!
